I have worked in the IT industry for the best part of 14 years, 8 years of which was spent as IT Systems Manager for a large education establishment spanning over 9 sites in 3 towns with 25,000+ users and almost 3000 workstations mixed with Windows and Mac desktops.

I have migrated Exchange all through the versions from 5 to 2010 and Windows from NT3.51 through to Windows 2008 R2. I enjoy solving problems and finding new solutions.

Over the years I have gained certifications in Novell, Microsoft, Citrix, 3Com which I have kept upto date throughout and more recently VMWare & Lefthand SAN/IQ and am looking forward to exploring these latest ones a lot further with the recent installation of a Lefthand iSCSI Virtualisation SAN with VMWare ESXi.

You will find me regularly posting on Experts Exchange: http://www.experts-exchange.com/M_2355264.html and msexchange.org more recently.

HIRE ME! I have extensive knowledge of a wide range of Microsoft Products, be that supporting existing installations or deploying new. Contact me on glen@demazter.co.uk

You will need either the Exchange 2003 CD or the SBS2003 CD2.
On here there will be the Exchange Setup setup.exe

Launch this from the run command so that you run:

      Setup.exe /forestprep
      Setup.exe /domainprep

I currently have Exchange 2003 running on Windows 2003 server and a domain controller running on Windows 2003 server. I want to transition to Exchange 2010 on a Windows 2008 server and eventually move to a 2008 domain controller.

Originally I was going to upgrade exchange first. Should I upgrade the domain controller and active directory to 2008 before upgrading my exchange environment?

Second, have you written a walk through for transition from Exchange 2003 to 2010? 🙂
